News has filtered out this weekend that their are planned protests all over the country, including 2 here in Georgia to protest (or celebrate) the outcome for the Ferguson trial. The 2 in Georgia are at 5 points in Atlanta and in Kennesaw according to their timblr: http://fergusonresponse.tumblr.com/.

The question is, after ther verdict will more people come out and if thy do how bad will it get, the media seems to think it will be bad riots but is this media overhype or will it be a changing point in history? We'll find out soon.
There have been numerous protest across America. Some peaceful and some not. Its more than just what people are seeing in the media. Is more than a race issue as well. The verdict is very pivotal because people will begin to see how police brutality has gotten out of hand.
ReplyDeleteAs can be seen with the indictment decision being read Monday, the media was not over-hyping the protests. The real question you have to ask though is, would we have gotten the same result if they had proceeded with the indictment? Additionally, how many of the people that were causing the problems were doing so because of there not being an indictment and how many were just using that as a mask for their criminal activity?
ReplyDeleteLike anything, the media has overhyped the protests. Instead of showing people who are actually protesting, they instead focus on the few who are being violent. It is like anything else that they cover, they focus on the bad few instead of what is actually happening to scare the rest of us into thinking horrible things are happening. It's very damaging to images of the people who are actually trying to make change.
